Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center hosts a Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Seminar at 6 pm on Thursday, October 26 in the connections room at the hospital. PAD is a serious condition that drastically increases the risk of heart attack and stroke in both men and women as they age. Join the Dr. Usman Khawaja, cardiologist with Novant Health for a free educational program. Symptoms of PAD include cramping in hips and legs, fatigue while walking and pain in the hip or leg muscles that goes away when you rest. Risk factors include age over 50, tobacco use, a history of coronary artery disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
