Lake Thom-A-Lex Park

Lake Thom-A-Lex Park is a favorite with local fisherman and as a nearby urban getaway. Kayaks are available for rent and the park now has a beautiful one-mile walking trail that skirts along the lake side. 

The park has a large playground along with four picnic shelters that can be reserved weekdays and weekends for all types of events. Each shelter has a maximum capacity of 30 people. Shelters can be rented year round.

The Bait Shop is open from April 1 to September 30 where fishing supplies can be purchased as well as drinks, snacks and picnic supplies. There are multiple piers for fishing, but no swimming, pleasure boating, water skiing, or jet skiing is allowed.

Winding Creek Golf Course is Thomasville’s municipal course open to the public and set on the highest point in Davidson County. It offers breathtaking views of the rolling hills, Hank’s Branch Creek, lakes and hardwood forests. Its layout plays from 5,400 to 6,700 yards and poses a challenge to golfers of all skill levels. The course includes a full driving range with a practice putting green. It has a restaurant and grill which has an outdoor patio and a great view of the course. Winding Creek is staffed by PGA available for private and group instruction. The staff also maintains a fully stocked pro shop which carries name brand golf equipment and apparel. Tee times are recommended and are given 7 days in advance in person or by calling the Golf Shop.

Hi-Toms

The High Point-Thomasville HiToms are a baseball team in the Coastal Plain League which is a collegiate summer baseball league. The HiToms play home games at Historic Finch Field which was built in Thomasville in 1935. Many of the HiToms and visiting players that played at Finch Field when it hosted professional minor league games went on to be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Many of the more recent HiToms college players have gone on to play in Major League Baseball. The HiToms currently play in the West Division of the CPL, and are three-time Coastal Plain League Petitt Cup Champions.
